2018 AMEC Survey Field School
The 2018 Survey Field School for AMEC at Mississippi State will take place at three locations. 1) a 900-acre facility that contains multiple Paleoindian period sites (>10,000 years old) including the famous Topper site, 2) the Nantahala National Forest in western North Carolina, and 3) the Monongahela National Forestin West Virginia.
Students will learn the basics of conducting archaeological surveys, including shovel testing, controlled surface collection, using and creating spatial data for use in archaeological surveys, and learning basic geoarchaeological methods.
