2018 AMEC Excavation Field School at the Hester Site, Amory, MS
The 2018 Excavation Field School for AMEC at Mississippi State will be located at the Hester Archaeological site outside Amory, MS, . This site contains one of the few stratified Late Pleistocene and Early Holocene sites in eastern North America. Students will learn the basics of conducting archaeological excavation, using and creating spatial data, artifact identification, and learning basic geoarchaeological methods.
Since the field school location is an hour away from Mississippi State, we will be commuting daily and a van will be available to transport students from Mississippi State to the field site.
