Anthropology Study

The research interests of AMEC faculty are in the histories and cultures of the Middle East and of the Americas. Primary research is conducted in native American archaeological remains (Rafferty), bioarchaeology and forensic anthropology in the United States and Greece (Herrmann), public health issues among university women (Ragsdale), conservation and ecological projects in Latin America (Hoffman), archaeological excavation and survey in Israel (Hardin and Seger), landscape change brought about by pre-historic human impact on the environment (Peacock), development of on-line data sources of ancient artifacts (Jacobs), and publication of excavation results of Middle Eastern sites (Seger).

Students in the undergraduate or graduate programs of AMEC may become involved in these research efforts through participation in field schools and in the laboratory treatment of artifacts. Students interested in research and laboratory experience should contact one of the faculty members listed above.
